    I also liked City of God, Rabbit Proof Fence and Spirited Away.
    I'd probably lose Talk to Her and About a Boy.
    These lists are really interesting because it's clear that some years are better than others - 2003 seems particularly good.
    What do you think Tom - best year of the decade?

    2002 - 03 was thin, as was 2005-06. The whole decade looks weak to me by comparison with the nineties. 2000 seems strong, and 01 and 04, but I'd have to say 07 probably steals it.

    I wonder if as we get older our film 'palettes' become more jaded and we yearn for those fresh, exciting cinema experiences of our youth.
    Though, judging by this blog, Avatar seems to have done it for you recently...

    The way I see it: it comes in alternating decades. Seventies good, eighties bad, nineties good, 00s bad, 10s good and so on. Crude I know but its true for me.
